Hey everyone, This Wednesday 10-1115am PT / 1-215pm ET is our weekly digital get together to connect on how we are all making our way through this new era for creative industries and AI among other emergent technologies, sharing ideas, tips, knowledge amongst ourselves. Our group is an amazing mix of creators/ producers/ builders/ some new to this stuff/ some OG/ all of us constantly learning. This week we'll be joined by: Deepak Chetty https://www.deepakchetty.com/ Deepak Chetty is a filmmaker, visual artist, and virtual production specialist based in Austin, Texas. His work explores the convergence of emerging technologies and cinematic storytelling, blending real-time tools, performance capture, and genre-driven narratives. A graduate of Pratt Institute (BFA) and the University of Texas at Austin (MFA), Chetty is currently an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M’s Virtual Production Institute within the School of Performance, Visualization, and Fine Arts. His award-winning 3D sci-fi short Hard Reset earned the Lumiere Award for Best Live-Action Short Film and Best Director at the Catalyst Content Festival. As a director and cinematographer, his films have screened at SXSW, Slamdance, the Hamptons, and beyond. Chetty’s latest project, STS-13, is a narrative short that fuses real-time technology and sci-fi horror. In addition to his independent work, Chetty has collaborated with Epic Games, Electronic Arts, Meta, The Washington Post, and others—developing virtual production education and training programs for creators at NBC/Universal, Warner Bros., and the Austin Film Society. Wesley @wuzgood Armstrong https://www.instagram.com/wuzgood/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/wuzgood/ Wesley Armstrong is an up-and-coming filmmaker with a unique voice blending superhero, animé, and comedy genres, as influenced by his childhood in Japan with his Marine Corps mom. A graduate of Sony TV’s Diverse Directors Program, he has extensively shadowed directors on shows such as “New Girl” and “Saved By The Bell”. He has directed over $4mm of branded entertainment for brands such as Lyft and T-Mobile, and has amassed 3 million social media followers along the way, being named a “game-changing influencer” by Bloomberg Magazine. In 2020, Wes signed with Tool of North America/Hummingbird as a commercial director and has directed commercials for companies like Allstate and Dreyer’s Ice Cream. He was nominated for the Streamy Award for Best Director for his series “Couples Night” which he created for Facebook Watch, and has had short films supported by Lakeshore Entertainment, Warner Bros., CryptTV, Twitter, and more. Outside of directing, Wesley is also an actor, recently starring in “North of the 10”, the #1 film on BET+. Most recently, Wes directed Kevin Hart’s Masterclass.
