## Description
Hey everyone, This Wednesday 10-11am PT / 1-2pm ET is our weekly digital get together to connect on how we are all making our way through this new era for creative industries and AI among other emergent technologies, sharing ideas, tips, knowledge amongst ourselves. Our group is an amazing mix of creators/ producers/ builders/ some new to this stuff/ some OG/ all of us constantly learning. This week our guest is: Richard Chuang is a co-founder of Pacific Data Images (PDI), which became DreamWorks Animation, where he spent nearly three decades helping invent the technology that made modern CG filmmaking possible. He served as VP and CTO, built PDI's core production pipeline from the ground up, and racked up 16 VFX Supervisor credits along the way — including the first-ever full-body digital stunt double, created with optical motion capture for Batman Forever. That work earned him two Academy Technical Achievement Awards and an Emmy, and his pipeline work underpins films all the way through Shrek. Since leaving DreamWorks, Richard has never stopped building. He founded Cloudpic to advance distributed digital content creation, consulted for studios across Asia and the US, taught AR/VR at the University of Silicon Valley, and advised Beijing Film Academy. He's been a featured speaker at OpenAI, SIGGRAPH Asia, WETA, and Stanford — and most recently received a Visionary Lifetime Achievement Award from ACM SIGGRAPH Asia. Today he runs d1n0, advising companies on AI and immersive media. In this episode, Richard does something rare: he takes us inside what it actually felt like to live through the birth of computer graphics in the early '80s — and every major industry inflection point since — to ask what those hard-won lessons might tell us about the moment we're all navigating right now.
